What is the Telephone Support Allowance?

The Telephone Support Allowance is a weekly payment intended to help with the costs of communication and home security solutions for individuals who live alone and are already receiving certain social welfare payments.

How to qualify for the Telephone Support Allowance:

To qualify, you need to be in receipt of both the Living Alone Allowance and Fuel Allowance as well as one of the following qualifying payments:

There is no need to apply for the Telephone Support Allowance; it is automatically provided to people who meet the criteria, But if you believe you qualify for the Telephone Support Allowance, but are not receiving it, you can contact one of the following offices depending on which payment you receive.

Rates of Payment:

The Telephone Support Allowance provides an additional €2.50 per week, on top of your primary social welfare payment, Living Alone and Fuel Allowance. This equals €130 annually.

This payment aims to alleviate some of the additional costs incurred by individuals living alone, such as home security and communication costs.
